Bloemsingel 200 Groningen Beauty can be found everywhere. Barbara Helmer is a visual artist in Rotterdam. Her work is about fractions, small parts of a whole. About light shining through an object or reflecting on it. It refers to jewelry, quartz, and minerals, and in a more abstract way to linked forms. Her works are layered abstractions based on the contours of gemstones. The images that form a starting point for Helmer's work come from a variety of sources: her immediate environment, her photographic work, nature, magazines, prints and even instruction manuals. Her way of looking and observing reflects her desire to translate these sources into painterly processes. Helmer carefully applies various techniques, and her mastery of a method is essential to achieving specific effects and a high-quality painting. Her abstract paintings, often on MDF, are mostly produced in series and are at the same time unique works of art. During the opening Barbara will present her new magazine containing work from the past few years. Especially for this exhibition, a limited-edition screen print by Barbara Helmer will be available at Off Hook. See you at Off Hook!

Lihaskana aka kanaliha is a visual artist and music enthusiastic from Estonia. Diving into a variety of genres, Lihaskana’s DJ-sets are unpredictable and adventurous. See you at Off Hook next Friday at 17 hrs!!! KARINA PUUFFIN: “ARE YOU STILL THERE?” 06 January 2023 – 17 February 2023 Karina Puuffin (1997) is a Ukrainian visual artist based in the Netherlands. In Off Hook, Karina is going to dive into her past, childhood and bittersweet memories of home. Not knowing if seeing her hometown, family and friends will be possible again, she is sincerely trying to recreate the remnants of her reminiscence.

Zaterdag 26 maart om 20 uur. D Deur open: 19.30 uur. Entree: € 5,- In het licht van een overheadprojector toont Klaske Oenema het proces van betekenis geven aan ons leven en hoe deze vervaagt. Ze gebruikt hierbij alledaags materiaal: oude enveloppen, papier, tape... In de performance manipuleert Klaske de schaduwen die uit deze materialen ontstaan en combineert ze met teksten, voorgedragen of gezongen. Momenteel werkt ze vaak samen met Martine Rademakers, Janke Brands en Welmoed Wijma om haar performance live met muziek te begeleiden. Klaske Oenema woont en werkt in Amsterdam maar woont al bijna 20 jaar in Groningen. Ze heeft haar werk op verschillende plekken en podia laten zien, zoals Lowlands, Kunstfestival Watou, Noorderzon Festival en Centraal Museum Utrecht. Maar ook in de keuken bij mensen thuis. Meer recent heeft ze fotoprints ontwikkeld van haar schaduwwerken, genaamd Permanent Projections. Een selectie van deze werken is te zien in Off Hook tijdens haar performance en de week erna, op donderdag 31 maart en vrijdag 1 april (12 - 17 uur).
